The Chop House restaurant chain’s main claim to fame is serving premium cuts of beef. Sherlock Zone, our intrepid food detective, found many other culinary choices to keep diners in the Zone. And he can also give us guidelines if we have a hankering for steak.
He enjoyed the Santa Fe Grilled Chicken Salad with black beans, peppers, roasted corn, onion, jack and cheddar. There’s not enough corn to make a difference. Another good choice is the Grilled Chicken Salad tossed with black olives, feta, cucumber and onions. Tell them to hold the noodles.
Your server will happily substitute favorable carbohydrate side dishes for the unfavorable pasta, potatoes and rice. Good sides include creamed spinach, sugar snap peas, steamed broccoli and asparagus.
With the sides, good dinner choices are Tennessee Country Chicken, Grilled Chicken Breast, Fresh Catch of the Day, North Atlantic Salmon, and Char-grilled Shrimp. Ask your server to hold the fettuccine.
You might also choose the Pork Chops. Just ask your server to eliminate the cinnamon apple garnish and marmalade.
If this is one of the rare occasions in which you are going to enjoy red meat, Sherlock believes that the eight-ounce Prime Rib au jus with horseradish sauce is a good choice. Have a side salad and two favorable carb sides. Make sure to take one-half your protein portion home for lunch or dinner the next day.
