People who live in the southern half of the country can get a fast Zone meal without the usual fast-food fallout. We sent Sherlock Zone to check it out. Every month our trusty sleuth investigates a different restaurant menu that might leave Zone diners clueless.
A salad bar is the perfect place to find a Zone meal. The menu at Souper Salad is no exception. Sherlock selected tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, kidney beans and some olives for his salad. He then topped it with tuna fish and the whites of a boiled egg.
Several types of soups are on the menu, some of which contain 1 block of carbohydrate and 1 block of protein per serving, including New England clam chowder, chicken tetrazini, white bean chicken, chili, and zucchini chicken.
Since Sherlock thought he hadn’t eaten enough carbs, he rounded out his meal with a piece of fruit. Selections include apples, oranges, pineapples, strawberries, kiwis, plums, and grapes.
Actually, Sherlock did a little detective work before he visited the restaurant by checking out soupersalad.com, which lists complete nutritional information for all the menu items.
If there’s no Souper Salad in your area, visit a supermarket instead for a fast-food lunch that is completely in the Zone. Create a salad, stop by the deli for protein and grab a couple of pieces of fruit.
