We received a request to ask Sherlock Zone to stake out Garcia’s Mexican Restaurant. While it might seem that a Mexican restaurant would not be a place at which you can eat a Zone meal, that isn’t so.
There are several salads that would be great for both lunch or dinner. The Chicken Avocado Salad features grilled chicken breast, fresh sliced avocados, cheddar cheese, tomatoes and tossed greens with raspberry vinaigrette. The Taco Salad contains crisp greens in southwest dressing and topped with seasoned ground beef, beans, tortilla strips, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and black olives. Go easy on the tortilla strips. The Fajita Salad has grilled sirloin or chicken breast on greens with tomatoes, cheese, sautéed onions and pepper, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole. The salads all come in a crisp tortilla shell. Break off a piece or two to eat if you’d like. Just don’t chow down the whole thing.
There are several different fajitas recipes. Just remember that for every Mexican meal you eat, limit yourself to one tortilla.
The Pollo al Carbon is marinated chicken with seasonal vegetables. The Aroz con Pollo features chicken, mushrooms and scallions. Both are served with vegetables and rice. Ask for more vegetables and tell your waitperson to hold the rice.
If you want a drink for dinner, choose wine or beer. Skip the margaritas. They’re loaded with sugar.
