Sherlock enjoys a Cheeseburger in Paradise

“Did you actually eat one?” was the aghast question.

“Did I eat what?” Sherlock asked.

“Did you actually eat a Cheeseburger in Paradise?”

“Actually, I ordered six,” was his scandalous reply.

Anybody who regularly reads about our Sherlock Zone’s monthly Zone culinary investigations should be surprised, shocked actually, at Sherlock’s response. Just before he was fired from writing his monthly OmegaZone column, he redeemed himself as he talked about his visit to Jimmy Buffet’s Cheeseburger in Paradise restaurant, where, he assured, one can order a Zone meal.

Although the regular sumptuous cheeseburgers are not in the Zone, there is an appetizer item that let Sherlock and his friends indulge just a little bit – Mini Cheeseburger, six little burgers covered with cheese, pickles and onions and served in a mini bun. Everybody in his party had one of the little cheeseburgers for an appetizer.

“And I only ate half of the mini bun,” said Sherlock sanctimoniously.

Other Zone-favorable appetizers included BBQ Shrimp and a Tropical Mixed Grill Satay, which features marinated chicken and skirt steak on a bed of field greens, with coconut curry and ranch dipping sauces. Dip in moderation.

A couple of people in Sherlock’s party chose a salad as an entrée. A favorite was Son of a Son of a Sailor Salad, which consists of mixed spring lettuce, shredded carrots, red cabbage, cucumbers, asparagus, tomatoes and wontons. (Push the wontons to the side.) It is tossed in balsamic vinaigrette and sprinkled with bleu cheese. For those who wish to complete their Zone meal, pulled chicken or skirt steak may be added to the salad.

Those in the party who were ordering an entrée chose the Sideboard Side Salad, which is a smaller version.

Sherlock’s entrée of choice was the Blacked Tilapia, a mountain-lake fish of Central and South America, which was served with the vegetable of the day.

One person in the group didn’t eat meat or fish, but her dining dilemma was solved because there is a veggie burger on the menu, which she had with the big salad that she ordered.

There was even a Zone-favorable dinner on the First Mate Kids’ Plate — grilled chicken breast with a side of veggies.

So our Sherlock Zone was successful again. Although he went way out on the edge and scared us half to death, he was able to create a Zone meal in of all places, Cheeseburger in Paradise.
