Sherlock Zone this month had a delightful meal at the Chart House, restaurants mostly located along the East and West coasts but also beginning to pop up in the nation’s heartland. Sherlock, by the way, visits restaurants every month that leave people clueless about what to order.
At the Chart House, Sherlock encountered several tasty-looking appetizers and salads including a Crab, Avocado and Mango Stack (go a bit easy on the mangos); a Seared Pepper Ahi Tuna; Shrimp Cocktail; Calamari With Sweet and Spicy Peppers; Lobster Bisque; and a Chart House Salad that contains greens, cucumber, tomato, red onion and hearts of palm. The Chart House also has a salad bar that can be ordered as an entrée.
Sometimes Sherlock orders an appetizer and a substantial salad and omits an entrée, which usually contains way too much protein.
There are, however, several tempting entrées, including several “Catch-of-the-Day” dishes. Other promising entrées include Pan Seared Sea Scallops in a soy-ginger broth that is served with spinach, bok choy and coconut ginger rice (go easy on the rice); Peppercorn Chicken with seasonal vegetables and garlic mashed potatoes (go easy on the mashed potatoes); and Crab Cakes with seasonal vegetables.
If more carbohydrates are needed, there are several Zone-favorable side dishes, including creamed spinach, sizzling mushrooms and steamed fresh asparagus.
