Sherlock goes to Bugaboo Creek

Our intrepid restaurant investigator, Sherlock Zone, has been traveling quite a bit lately as he checks out menus that leave many Zoners clueless. But this month he stayed close to home and visited Bugaboo Creek, a chain of restaurants that abounds up and down the East Coast. He was taken aback at first when he saw so many “hand-battered” items, read about entrees that feature “Peaks of Pasta” and noted the huge portions of protein some sections offer, such as a 20-ounce T-bone, a 16-ounce prime rib and one-half a chicken. Think about it. Twenty ounces of protein would Zone feed six women and one child or five men.

 

Sherlock did manage to find several selections that are Zone favorable. He enjoyed the blackened whitewater shrimp appetizers, two skewers seasoned with Cajun spices on top of coleslaw. A couple of carb sides, and he was in the Zone.

 

A number of salads also fit the bill. One features, marinated steak sliced over mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers and bleu cheese tossed in balsamic vinaigrette. It was topped with a jumbo crispy onion ring, which Sherlock removed. And, of course, the Cobb and Grilled Chicken salads are always good Zone choices. Entrees to his liking were grilled fresh salmon and grilled rainbow trout.

 

If you need more carbs, choose from grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms and fresh steamed vegetables.

 

And if you really have a taste for steak, get the seven-ounce filet. Make it a dinner for two, or take half of it home for lunch the next day.
