Sherlock Zone visits Bob Evans

Sherlock Holmes got quite a treat during his travels when he visited a Bob Evans restaurant. There are 520 of those restaurants in 22 states so they should be easy for you to find.

He was impressed with the number of Zone choices he could have, quite a bit more varied than your typical restaurant.

He started out with a Tuscan Chicken Salad, which consisted of tender grilled chicken, marinated tomatoes, smoky bacon, cheddar cheese, roasted almonds and diced scallions over a special blend of fresh mixed greens. His companion had a Cobb Salad, a mix again of tender grilled chicken, bacon, a hard-boiled egg, grape tomatoes, cheddar and blue cheese atop crisp garden-fresh greens. Other great salads included Country Spinach Salad, Wildfire Chicken Salad, a Frisco Salad and a Fruit and Yogurt Plate. All perfectly in the Zone.

There are also a number of specialty sandwiches including Turkey Bacon Melt, Chicken Salad, Big BLT and Fish Market Haddock Sandwich. You can also choose a big bowl of soup, including Beef Vegetable, Classic Bean, Cheddar Baked Potato and Sausage Chili.

Several dinner entrees also fill the bill, including Steak Monterey, a marinated six-ounce sirloin steak, smothered in grilled mushrooms and sweet onions then topped with melted Monterey-jack cheese. Sides by the way include a lot of Zone choices - grilled garden vegetables, broccoli florets, green beans with ham, buttered sweet corn, glazed baby carrots, fresh garden salad, cottage cheese, applesauce and fresh coleslaw. Specialty sides included fresh fruit dish, a cup of soup, cheddar broccoli florets, and a specialty side salad with bacon and cheddar cheese. A lot of great sides to keep you in the Zone.

Other "dinner sensations" include two fork-tender Atlantic salmon fillets with your choice of Wildfire barbecue sauce or garlic herb butter and Meat Loaf and Gravy, served with two sides.

The restaurant also sells Bob Evans Family-Size Meals, designed to allow customers to tailor carryout meals to their needs with portions equal to three servings. Meats are available with no sides or bread, with one side and bread or with two sides and bread. Classics include pork chops, roast beef, turkey and dressing, meatloaf, country-fried steak, New Orleans Style Catfish Fillets, fried or grilled chicken breasts and chicken strips. There is also Chicken Stir-fry and Vegetable Stir-fry, broccoli florets, fresh garden salads, grilled garden vegetables, cottage cheese, and green beans with ham, applesauce, buttered sweet corn, fresh coleslaw, and glazed baby carrots. In all, Sherlock said he's found quite a catch at Bob Evans!
