In these tight financial times many people have asked our intrepid food detective, Sherlock Zone, to investigate moderately priced restaurants to see if he could find clues on how to stay in the Zone. He strongly recommends Zoners stick to his meal recommendations because there are many, many bad choices that can be made at these restaurants. Also pay attention to the size of the protein offering. Remember, it should be no bigger or thicker than the palm of your hand. If there’s extra, bring it home and enjoy a great lunch the next day.
Unfortunately, the chicken offerings here are all breaded. Even though Chick-fil-a proudly states that all chicken is “hand breaded,” that doesn’t keep it from being way out of the Zone. There are, however, two salads that Sherlock approves of. The first is Chargrilled Chicken and Fruit Salad, which consists of chicken breast, lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots, cheese, strawberries, red grapes, apple pieces and mandarin oranges. Skip the granola. For those who prefer vegetables, try Chicken Garden Salad, which features grilled chicken breast, lettuce, shredded cabbage and carrots, grape tomatoes and broccoli florets. Skip the croutons and sunflower kernels.
