Eliminate chili powder and Tabasco sauce for a tamer meal.
Add olive oil to a large pot and heat to medium high. Brown turkey, onion and dried spices (excluding bay leaf). Add carrots, celery, tomatoes, and vegetable stock. Bring to a boil and stir in barley. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Add Tabasco and bay leaf and cook an additional 25 minutes. Add kidney beans and green beans. Cook an additional 5 minutes. Spoon 1 teaspoon of the extra virgin olive oil on each serving. Have one-half apple with one-quarter ounce cheddar cheese for dessert.
