This recipe can be partially prepared the night before.
Muesli is like a cross between hot cereal and cold. Traditionally the oats are soaked overnight in yogurt or kefir (a looser version of yogurt). In the morning grated or thinly sliced fresh fruits are added to the soft oat cereal. The classic Swiss version does not contain protein powder. Instructions: 1. Lightly toast oats and nut pieces in a dry skillet over medium-low heat, stirring all the while, until lightly golden and aromatic, 3-5 minutes. Toss oats, nuts, dried fruits, spice, and protein powder in medium bowl. 2. Before going to bed, add yogurt to oat-nut mixture. Stir, cover and refrigerate overnight. 3. In the morning, wash, core, and grate fresh fruit. Add to muesli, stir, then let stand for 15 minutes. If desired, add a bit more water. Divide among 4 cereal bowls and serve.
